Munoz Scores Career-High 34 Points as Tigers Defeat Felician, 89-72

Rutherford, N.J. - Junior Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) scored a career-high 34 points as the Holy Family University men's basketball defeated Felician College by the score of 89-72 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Sunday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
 
Holy Family improves to 14-9 overall and 10-4 in the CACC, while Felician falls to 9-13 overall and 6-8 in conference action.  With the win, Holy Family holds the lead in the CACC South Division with ten victories and leads Philadelphia University (8-3). 
 
Munoz led a trio of Holy Family players that scored in double-figures.  He finished the game with 34 points after knocking down six three-pointers (6-15).  Munoz has drained 22 three-pointers in the last four games.  He also was a perfect 12-of-12 from the free throw line. 
 
Senior Angel Ayala (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) shot 6-of-9 from the field to score a career-high 20 points off the bench for the Tigers.  Ayala also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists.  Junior Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J./Deptford High) contributed 14 points and eight rebounds after shooting 4-of-8 from the field.  Sophomore Richard Council (New York, N.Y./Rice) added eights.
 
For Felician, senior Anthony D. Green led the Golden Falcons with a team-high 25 points.  Green knocked down five three-pointers (5-13) and converted 8-of-10 from the free throw line.  Junior Anthony Obery finished with 13 points, while senior Antoine Obery added nine points and eight rebounds.
 
After leading 11-10 early in the first half, Holy Family used a 14-5 run to increase its lead to double-digits after Council scored a layup to make the score 25-15 at the 7:58 mark. 
 
Holy Family would go on to lead by as many as 17 points (36-19) after a pair of free throws by Ezell with 3:44 to play until halftime.  The Tigers closed out the half with a 14-point advantage, leading 47-33.
 
In the second half, Holy Family maintained its double-digit lead throughout the half as the Tigers led by as many as 24 points.  A pair of free throws by Munoz gave Holy Family a 73-49 lead with 9:59 to play.
 
Holy Family shot 42.1-percent from the field and 34.8-percent (8-23) from beyond the arc, while Felician only shot 33.3-percent for the game and 5-of-21 from deep range.  The Tigers held a slight advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Golden Falcons, 48-40. 
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 16 as the Tigers host Nyack College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
