Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to visiting Caldwell College by the score of 85-55 Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
Holy Family is now 10-10 overall and 6-6 in conference play, while Caldwell improves to 12-9 overall and 7-7 in the CACC.
Holy Family had three players score in double-figures including junior
Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day School) who led the team with 14 points. Hankins also dished out four assists and had one steal. Senior
Rickie Crews (Deptford, N.J./Deptford) and sophomore
Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons) each tallied 12 points apiece. Crews also grabbed five rebounds, dished out three assists and blocked four shots. He currently has 78 blocks this season, which is the most in Division II.
Munoz recorded eight rebounds to go along with his 12 points. Junior
Angel Ayala (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) also grabbed eight rebounds and scored eight points.
For Caldwell, freshman Wyatt Polk led the team with 18 points off the bench. Polk shot 7-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-6 from deep range. Senior Nikola Otovic tallied 12 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Michael Balkovic recorded a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.
Caldwell shot 8-of-13 from beyond the arc on its way to a double-digit halftime lead. The Cougars shot 53.1-percent from the field and 61.5-percent from three in the first stanza to lead 45-30 at the half. Caldwell limited Holy Family to 11-of-29 shooting from the field and 2-of-11 from beyond the arc in the first half.
For the game, Caldwell knocked down 12 three-pointers (12-27) en route to the victory.
Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, Feb. 4 as the Tigers host the University of the Sciences in a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 8 p.m.
