WATERBURY, Conn. – Goals less than five minutes on either side of halftime lifted the HFU Women's Soccer Team to a 2-0 triumph at Post in the two teams' Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Wednesday night.
Carly Fox (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy (Penn State Berks)) and
Gyzell Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) played a part in both scores, beginning with a Fox free kick that found Rowan at the back post with just under three minutes remaining in the first half.
Rowan beat a defender before finding
Bridget Dickson (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) for a tap-in right in front of net.
Fox then beat a defender outside the right portion of the box before setting up Rowan for a tap-in at the back post 4:39 into the second.
It was the second time for both that they have had two goal involvements, with both notably previously doing so against Post.
Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) made four saves to record her eighth career clean sheet, which is tied for 10th in program history, while the senior's 15 wins now rank ninth.
She was protected by the starting backline of
Samantha Pastino (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan),
Amelia Brown (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland),
Jessica Wojnar (Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) and
Kayla Balisalisa (North Wales, Pa./North Penn).
