PHILADELPHIA - The Holy Family University Baseball Team used a five-run seventh to defeat Lincoln, 7-5, in its regular season finale on Tuesday afternoon at FDR Park.
Trailing 2-5 entering the frame, the Tigers sent 11 to the plate beginning with a
Frank Provenzano (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College) single and
Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC)) hit-by-pitch.
After a
Jalen David (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond) sacrifice,
Andres Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) cut the deficit to one on a two-RBI single and
Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) quickly evened the score with an RBI double.
McKenzie would score the eventual game-winning run on a wild pitch, before a
Jephson Hadson-Taylor (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)) walk and
Griffin Richardson (Warminster, Pa./Greenville (Bucks County CC)) double added insurance.
Daniel Guntherberg (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) then worked a scoreless eighth, prior to
Jelle Bing (Heerhugowaard, Netherlands/CSG Jan Arentsz (McCook CC)) earning his first save at HFU with a scoreless ninth.
Trevor Morris (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) picked up the win after pitching the top of the seventh.
Paul Miazza (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) notably allowed just one run on three hits over five frames, with five strikeouts and no base on balls.
McKenzie led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance that included two doubles, two runs and two RBI.
Richardson also reached three times with two hits and a walk, while Provenzano had two base knocks as well.
Rivera notably had two runs and two RBI.
