LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The HFU Baseball Team used an eight-running inning in both games of a doubleheader sweep of Georgian Court, 12-1 and 10-7, on Saturday afternoon.
Game One
Holy Family scored in its first two at-bats and led throughout, breaking out for eighth in the seventh as it sent 14 to the plate.
Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC)),
Logan Mote (Branchburg, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School (Lackawanna College)),
Brayden King (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek (Chattanooga State CC)) and
Jalen David (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond) all reached twice in the frame, with Lombardo leading off with a single and driving in two with a double.
Lombardo and Mote both went a perfect 3-for-3, with Lombardo doubling twice and driving in three and Mote also walking.
Griffin Richardson (Warminster, Pa./Greenville (Bucks County CC)) had three base knocks as well, finishing 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Jephson Hadson-Taylor (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs, while
Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) went 2-for-3 with a base on balls.
Jorden Sesar (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville (Manhattan University)) earned his first win of the year with a quality start, allowing just one earned on two hits over six frames.
Stefano Gonzales (Torrance, Calif./Mater Dei (Los Angeles PIerce College)) then threw a scoreless seventh.
Game Two
The Tigers sent 11 the plate in an eight-run second, which was highlighted by a three-run homer from McKenzie.
That followed RBIs from King (walk), David (two-RBI single) and
Andres Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) (double).
The Lions had the tying run reach in the sixth, but
Maximus Garcia (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Norwalk) stranded the bases loaded.
Trevor Morris (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) then threw a perfect seventh to earn his first collegiate save, securing a win for
Bryan Burtoft (Leesburg, Fla./First Academy Leesburg (Lake Sumter State College)) after he threw the first four.
Frank Provenzano (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College) reached in all four at-bats, finishing 2-for-2 with two runs and two base on balls, while King walked three times.
