CHESTER, Va. – The Holy Family Baseball Team split with Mansfield for the second day in a row, with the Tigers taking game one, 3-2, before the Mounties emerged in the nightcap 2-8.
HFU won the opener thanks to the arm of
Jelle Bing (Heerhugowaard, Netherlands/CSG Jan Arentsz (McCook CC)), who earned the win after not allowing an earned run in 5.2 innings.
Freshman
Daniel Guntherberg (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) then came on to earn the save in his first collegiate appearance following a game-ending double play.
This came after
Peter Hrousis (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic (Northampton CC)) came through with game-winning, pinch-hit two-RBI triple in the top of sixth.
Offensively,
Brayden King (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek (Chattanooga State CC)) and
Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) both reached base three times.
Mansfield used a five-run second to take control in game two.
Andres Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) had two base knocks, while McKenzie drew three base on balls.
