Three HFU student-athletes have received weekly awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), the league offices announced on Monday.
Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and
Matt Gardler (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) were named the respective Rookies of the Week, while
Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week
Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) – CACC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Brown is now a three-time CACC Rookie of the Week after averaging 14.0 points on 58.8 percent shooting in a 2-0 week.
The freshman began her week with the first 20-point performance of her collegiate career, sinking 8-of-10 field goals as HFU defeated Chestnut Hill on Tuesday.
Brown then had eight points, two rebounds and two assists in Sunday's victory at Post.
Matt Gardler (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) – CACC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Gardler earns the award for a second time in four weeks after pouring in a game and season-high 26 points in last Tuesday's win over Chestnut Hill.
He made 9-of-10 field goals, 6-of-7 3-pointers and 2-of-2 free throws, while adding three assists, two steals and two boards
Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) – CACC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Carter receives her second CACC weekly honor of the season after recording five steals, three blocks and three defensive rebounds, as HFU limited its two opponents to 53.0 points per game on 35.2 percent shooting.
The senior began the week with two blocks, two steals and three defensive boards in the victory over Chestnut Hill.
She then had a team-high three steals and another block in the win at Post.
