Women’s Basketball Doubles Up Goldey-Beacom in First Half en Route to 69-53 Win

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Women's Basketball Team doubled up Goldey-Beacom in the first half, 42-21, en route to a 69-53 victory over the Lightning on Thursday evening inside of the Campus Center. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all players with 18 points and 15 rebounds, in 20 minutes, for her sixth double-double in seven games and her 17th of the season
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) dished out a game-high six assists
  • Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) and Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) were in double-figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively
  • Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) pulled down nine boards, while Laruen Palangio contributed eight points

  • Holy Family won the rebounding battle 56-30, leading to a 26-7 edge in second chance points 
 
How it Happened
  • Tied at 12 in the final minutes of the first quarter, HFU used seven straight points – the last four of which were by Palangio – to begin to pull away
  • Leading 20-14 following 10 minutes of play, the Tigers then opened the second with the first six points as a Carter 3-pointer completed a 14-2 stretch for the first double-digit advantage, 26-14, 1:53 into the period
  • Holy Family led by double-digits the rest of the way as it poured in the final eight points of the half, four of which were by Brown, to outscore GBC 22-7 in the quarter
