STATEN ISLAND – The HFU Men's Track & Field Team placed fourth at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships, hosted at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, on Sunday.
The Tigers' 80 points were 27.50 clear of fifth place Felician.
Roberts Wesleyan won the event with 148.
- Javon Bowen (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) won the long jump with an NCAA provisional, topping the field of 21 with a mark of 7.28m
- He narrowly missed out on a second gold in the 60m, by .002 seconds, settling for silver after crossing in 6.938
- The senior was also fourth in the triple jump, landing at 13.55m, bringing his point total for the championships to 23
- Winning the triple jump was his teammate Ernest Robertson (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity), who topped the field of 12 with a mark of 14.15m for 10 points
- Odane Smith (Saint Catherine, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) won silver in the high jump, earning eight points, with a clearance of 1.88m
- Al-Amin Page (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) (1.78m) and Lance Lawrence (Spanish Town, Jamaica/St. Jago (New Mexico Junior College)) (collegiate PR) 1.73m) added three more points
- Desi Stroud (Mays Landing, N.J./ACIT) brought home bronze in the long jump – for six points - after landing at 7.04m
- HFU had four of the top seven finishers, with Smith (7.02m) and Robertson (indoor collegiate PR 6.61m) bring the Tigers' point total in the event to 22
- Philip Zyskowski (Ridgewood, N.Y./Franklin Towne Charter) won bronze in the 400m, crossing third out of 35 with a collegiate PR of 50.29
- J'kwann Hamilton (Smithville, Jamaica/Edwin Allen (New Mexico Highlands University)) (collegiate PR 50.88) earned two more points with a seventh place finish
- The distance medley quartet of Letlotlo Mohubedu (Pretoria, South Africa/Northern Academy Secondary School (Essex CC)), Theophilius Sample (Atlantic City, N.J./ACIT), Tyler Wesley (Hartford, Conn./Bloomfield) and Andrae Johnson (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Oakcrest) fell one spot shy the podium, crossing in 11:09.63, for five points
- Individually, Johnson (indoor collegiate PR 2:00.50) added three points for a sixth place finish in the 800m
- Zyskowski, Hamilton, Wesley were also a part of the 4x400m relay team, along with Al-Amin Page (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest), that came in fifth – for four points - with a time of 3:33.57
- Jay-Zyre Turner (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) (collegiate PR 22.71) and Ryder Benjamin (/) (collegiate PR 22.80) combined for three points in the 200m
