Women’s Basketball Handles Jefferson, 85-33

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Women's Basketball Team outscored Jefferson 50-13 in the second half of an 85-33 victory over the Rams inside of the Campus Center on Wednesday evening. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all players with 21 points and 12 rebounds, in just 22 minutes, for her third consecutive double-double and her 14th of the season
  • Lauren Palangio (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) also recorded a double-double, her third of the season, with 12 points, 10 boards and a game-high two blocks
  • Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) made it three Tigers in double-figures as she poured in 15 points on 5-of-8 3-pointers, while Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) fell one rebound shy of double-digit boards 
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) led all players with six assists and three steals
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The Rams' 20.6 field goal percentage was the lowest by an HFU opponent since Bridgeport shot 19.3 percent from the field on Jan. 27, 2024
 
How it Happened
  • HFU never trailed, breaking a 3-3 tie with 10 consecutive points that began with back-to-back 3-pointers by Carter
  • The Tigers held Jefferson scoreless for nearly five minutes, and an Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) layup to end the first quarter established a double-digit cushion, 18-7, for good
  • Holy Family then opened the second with of the first nine points, with a Hinkle three-point play concluding an 11-1 surge for a 26-8 lead with 6:05 left in the half
  • That was the first of three 18-point advantages, the final of which came at 33-15 on an Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) triple 3:07 ahead of the break
  • Hinkle made a free throw in the final second for a 35-20 halftime edge, and the Tigers would begin the third on a 26-3 flurry that featured a combined 22 points from Hinkle and Carter
  • Holy Family then held the Rams scoreless for the opening 9:19 of the fourth, pouring in 22 in a row highlighted by 10 from Palangio
