Women’s Basketball Starts Fast in Win Over Bridgeport

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Women's Basketball Team outscored Bridgeport 25-7 in the first quarter of an eventual 75-39 win over the Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon inside of the Campus Center. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all players with 22 points, highlighted by making 4-of-5 3-pointers, and 13 rebounds for her fourth consecutive double-double and her 15th of the season
  • Lola Ibarrondo (Bristol, Pa./Neshaminy) had 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting, tying a season-best, and a game-high two steals
  • Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) was also in double-figures 10 points
  • Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) and Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) had nine points each
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) led all players with four assists
 
Inside the Box Score
  • The Tigers had more than double the amount of assists, 15-7, and less than half the half amount of turnovers, 6-14, while outscoring UB 22-6 in fastrbreak points
 
How it Happened
  • Holy Family trailed for just 24 seconds, at 2-3, and after a 5-5 tie, the Tigers used eight straight points – five of which were by Hinkle – to take the lead for good
  • That started a 20-2 run to end the first quarter, as UB scored just two points over the final 8:30 of the period
  • Hinkle and Ibarrondo combined to score the last 12 points, which established a 25-7 lead following 10 minutes of play
  • An Ibarrondo driving layup to make the score 18-7 with 2:27 left in the first made it a double-digit advantage for good
