WATERBURY, Conn. –
Diego Palomera Herrera's (Cantabria, Spain/Erie Prep) 20th minute opener led to HFU Men's Soccer earning a point in a 1-1 draw at five-time defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season champion Post on Saturday night.
It was
Ever Maradiaga (Edgewater Park, N.J./Life Center Academy) who headed down
Jackson Kiss' (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) cross to Palomera at the near post, and the junior left no doubt as he sent it into the top left corner for his first goal as a Tiger.
It was both Maradiaga's and Kiss' first assists of the season.
Holy Family had four of the next five attempts on target but could not add on to the lead as both Palomera and Maradiaga were denied seven seconds apart in the 51st minute.
Bruno Mestres (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Mackenzie Tambore) made three saves in a 58-second span in the 60th and 61st before the Eagles were finally able to equalize just over six minute later.
He then made two more stops down the stretch to secure the draw, the final coming with 7:52 left to play.
Both teams finished with 19 shots on the night, the first coming by Kiss just 24 seconds in.
