Women’s Basketball Begins 2026 with Victory Over Caldwell

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Women's Basketball began 2026 with a 69-61 victory over Caldwell inside of the Campus Center on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) registered her seventh double-double of the season with a game-high 12 rebounds and 14 points
  • Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) (5-of-6 field goals) and Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) (4-of-7) topped the Tigers with 15 points apiece, with Carter adding a team-high two steals
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) led all players with a career-best three blocks and added a team-high four assists

  • Holy Family shot a season-best 54.2 percent from the floor and outscored the Cougars 32-20 in the paint
 
How it Happened
  • The entirety of the first half was played within two possessions, featuring eight lead changes and four ties, as back-to-back baskets by Lauren Palangio (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) gave HFU a 38-35 advantage entering the locker room
  • After Caldwell answered a Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) 3-pointer with five straight points, the Tigers used six in a row - ending with a Carter 3-pointer – to establish the first three-possession lead, 47-40, with 4:50 left in the third quarter 
  • That started a 12-4 stretch to end the period, as Ngo made 4-of-4 free throws in the final 1:45 for a 53-44 edge entering the fourth
  • Ngo then began the fourth with a layup for the first double-double advantage, as she combined with Carter for nine of the first 11 points of the quarter to establish the game's largest lead, 62-46, with 6:28 to go
