Women’s Basketball Wins on Road at Georgian Court, 70-46

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Holy Family University Women's Basketball Team won on the road at Georgian Court, 70-46, on Wednesday evening. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all players with 19 points and 11 rebounds to move into second in program history with 968 career boards
    • It was the senior's third consecutive double-double, and her 11th of the season
  • Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) added 13 points, while Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) had 11 and a game-high two blocks
  • Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) posted double the amount of steals as any other player with four, a new season-best, while Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) led all players with three assists
  • Lola Ibarrondo (Bristol, Pa./Neshaminy) made it four Tigers in double-figures

  • Holy Family outrebounded GCU 43-32 and held the Lions to 31.0 percent shooting, while making more than double the amount of free throws, 13-
 
How it Happened
  • After Georgian Court opened the scoring, HFU came back with the next nine points – the final six of which were by Dougherty – to take the lead for good
  • That started a 24-7 run that spanned the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second
  • After Ibarrondo made two free throws put the Tigers ahead 16-7 following 10 minutes of play, a Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) layup to start the second established a double-digit advantage for good
  • Following back-to-back baskets by Dougherty, which gave her 10 points, a Hinkle layup completed the stretch for a 24-9 edge with 7:34 left in the first half
  • Dougherty later began six unanswered for a first-half-high 35-18 lead in the final seconds
