Women’s Basketball Posts Wire-to-Wire 72-48 Win Over Wilmington

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Women's Basketball team posted a 72-48 wire-to-wire win over Wilmington on Wednesday evening inside of the Campus Center. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Freshman Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) recorded her first collegiate double-double with season-bests of 16 points and a team-high 10 rebounds
  • She fell one point shy of the game-high set by Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South), who fell one board shy of a double-double herself
  • Lauren Palangio (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) also pulled down 10 rebounds, a new career-best for the sophomore 
  • Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) tied a career-best with a game-high three blocks
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) topped the Tigers with five assists
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Holy Family's bench outscored WilmU's 39-17, and the Tigers made quadruple the number of free throws, 16-4
 
How it Happened
  • Hinkle and Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) opened the game with back-to-back 3-pointers, as Hinkle poured in seven of HFU's first 10 points 
  • Her jumper with 4:37 left in the first quater began a 14-0 run to end the period, highlighted by five straight points from Brown, as the Tigers led 22-5 after 10 minutes of play
  • Wilmington scored the first six points of the second, getting as close as 11 for the first of five times in the quarter, but the Wildcats could not make it a single-digit deficit until it was 48-57 with 8:29 remaining in the contest
  • That would be the last WilmU point as HFU would close with the final 15, highlighted by Hinkle and Maya Hill (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) combining for 11
