Volleyball Defeats Goldey-Beacom in CACC Opener, Giving Sibilia His 100th Career Win

PHILADELPHIA – The HFU volleyball team opened its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) campaign with a four-set triumph over Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday evening inside of the Campus Center, giving Head Coach Collin Sibilia his 100th career victory. 
 
Sibilia notably became the program's all-time winningest coach last season. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Leah Logan (Bloomfield, N.J./Abundant Life Academy) tied a program record for blocks in a four-set match with eight, double the amount of any other player
  • Mia Wise (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston) had more than double the amount of assists as any other player with 47
  • Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) posted a match-high 15 kills, while Mackenzie Layton (Clarksboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) was also in double-figures with 10 and Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)) added nine
  • Keira Rogan (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) 13 and Cadence Palmer (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) (10) both reached double-digit digs
  • Gianna DiPilato (Verbank, N.Y./Millbrook) tied a match-high with three service aces

How it Happened
  • First Set (25-21): Trailing 10-15, six unanswered sparked an 11-2 surge that featured two kills from Layton
  • Second Set (25-20): Down 8-14, Holy Family tallied 10 consecutive points that included three blocks by Logan
  • Third Set (19-25): Goldey-Beacom erased a 12-16 deficit with six straight points, before eventually closing out the set with five in a row
  • Fourth Set (25-22): Back-to-back kills by Kidd established a 16-13 advantage that the Tigers would never relinquish
