PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's soccer team hosted Molloy for its home-opener on Thursday evening at Tiger Field.
HFU had six of the first seven shots of the contest but could not threaten the Molloy's keeper, and the Lions found the net with its second attempt, a header from a corner kick in the 21st minute.
The Tigers outshot Molloy 12-4 in the opening 45 minutes but only put one attempt on frame when
Ned Lewis (London, England/Hayesbrook) was denied in the 38th.
Joey Phillips (Levittown, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) made his first save 1:36 into the second half, and two more within 30 seconds of each other in the 54th and 55th, but the Molloy would double its advantage in just over four minutes later.
Holy Family held a 19-15 edge in shots but could only put two on net, with
Lucca Saad (São Paulo, Brazil/The Phelps School) being stopped in the 65th.
