WALTHAM, Mass. – The HFU men's soccer knocked off unbeaten Bentley, a team coming off a win over nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce, with goals in the first 2:24 of each half of a 2-1 final on Saturday afternoon.
It took Holy Family just 1:41 to open the scoring as
Ned Lewis (London, England/Hayesbrook) found the back of the net with the match's first shot, with an assist from both
Lucca Saad (São Paulo, Brazil/The Phelps School) and
Ricardo Paniccia Giraldez (O Porriño, Spain/IES Pino Manso).
It was notably Paniccia Giradlez's first assist as a Tiger.
Lewis also part of the second goal, which came 2:24 into the second half, as both he and
Ever Maradiaga (Edgewater Park, N.J./Life Center Academy) set up senior
Jackson Kiss (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood) for his first collegiate goal.
That proved to be the game-winner despite the Falcons halving the deficit with 11:29 to play.
Joey Phillips (Levittown, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) sealed the win with one final save, his fifth of the afternoon, in the 87th minute to earn his first collegiate victory in net.
