WATERBURY, Conn. – The HFU baseball team overcame 0-2 and 2-3 deficits for an 8-3 game two triumph at defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champion Post on Wednesday afternoon.
Trailing 2-3 entering the sixth inning of the seven-frame nightcap,
Marc Garcia (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area Senior (Keystone College)) led off with a hit-by-pitch and after the first out, a
Christian Mote (Branchburg, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School (Iona University)) single and
Andy Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) walk loaded the bases.
A
Jalen David (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond) hit-by-pitch brought home the tying run, before
Stefan Leo's (Golden, Colo./Golden Senior (Porterville CC)) sacrifice fly drove in the winning one.
The Tigers then tacked on four more in the seventh on
Torin McKenzie's (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) grand slam, which followed a
Brian Comer (Charlotte, N.C./Independence (Bucks County CC)) leadoff walk,
Luke Shahin (Ajax, Ontario/Archbishop Denis O'Connor(Augusta University)) single and Garcia sacrifice bunt.

How it Happened
Game One
- Hayden Ford (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford (Frostburg State University)) faced the minimum through four, and singles from Jephson Hadson-Taylor (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)), Comer and Garcia led to a three-run third
- Holy Family then made it 5-0 in the fifth on a Comer leadoff single and back-to-back doubles by Shahin and Garcia
- Post sent 10 to the plate in a five-run bottom-half though, before adding three more in the sixth
- The Tigers got as close as 7-8 in the seventh, as Comer again led off with a single prior to back-to-back one-out RBI doubles by Shahin and McKenzie, but the latter was stranded and the Eagles countered with two of their own in the bottom-half
Game Two
- It was Post getting on the board first with a two-run first
- After stranding two in the second, Hadson-Taylor and Comer led off the third with a triple and single, respectively, before Garcia tied the score at 2-2 on a sacrifice fly
- An error allowed an unearned run to cross and make it 2-3 in the bottom of the fourth
