PHILADELPHIA – For the second time in three days the Holy Family University baseball team swept a doubleheader, defeating Bridgeport 7-5 and 10-1 on Tuesday.
Individual Highlights
- Jalen David (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond) had at least three hits in both games, going a near-perfect 7-for-8 with five runs, a double, an RBI and a hit-by-pitch
- Stefan Leo (Golden, Colo./Golden Senior (Porterville CC)) also had a three-hit game, in nightcap, finishing the doubleheader 4-for-8 with three runs, three RBI, a double and a base on balls
- Game two starter Casey Murphy (Merion Station, Pa./Lower Merion (Ursinus College)) improved to 7-4 with a win in a third straight appearance, throwing a complete game five-hitter with four strikeouts and just one walk
- Zach Lane (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle (McCook CC)) is now 2-2 after throwing three perfect innings of relief in game one, with starter Hayden Ford (Harrison City, Pa./Penn-Trafford (Frostburg State University)) throwing the first six frames
How it Happened
Game One
- Holy Family came back from a three-run UB first and 1-5 deficit through five on the heels of a five-run eighth
- Following back-to-back one-out walks by Andy Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) and Leo, David loaded the bases with a bunt single
- HFU then had four consecutive RBI at-bats, including singles from Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)), Jephson Hadson-Taylor (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)) and Brian Comer (Charlotte, N.C./Independence (Bucks County CC)) and a hit-by-pitch by Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC))
Game Two
- The Tigers scored two batters in and led throughout after a Comer leadoff walk and David double
