Baseball Completes Season Sweep of Lincoln to End Season on Seven-Game Winning Streak

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Holy Family University baseball team completed the season sweep of Lincoln, defeating the Lions 6-3 on Thursday afternoon, to end its season with a seventh straight win. 
 
The Tigers wrap up their second campaign with 23 victories, three more than last year. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Gino Serechia (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton (Shepherd University)) led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance that featured two RBI, a run and a double
  • Brian Comer (Charlotte, N.C./Independence (Bucks County CC)) and Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC)) reached twice on a single and a walk, with Comer scoring a run
  • Christian Culver (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman (Bucks County CC)) picked up his first win of the season, tossing five frames of two-run ball, while Ian Malone (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne (Desales University)) threw a perfect inning of relief
 
How it Happened
  • Trailing 1-2, HFU broke out with a five-run sixth that began with an out
    • Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) and Stefan Leo (Golden, Colo./Golden Senior (Porterville CC)) got the rally going with back-to-back singles, before back-to-back doubles by Luke Shahin (Ajax, Ontario/Archbishop Denis O'Connor(Augusta University)) and Serechia tied it at 2-2 and then made it 4-2
    • Following a Lombardo base on balls, a Jephson Hadson-Taylor (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)) single and wild pitch completed scoring in the frame
  • The Lions able to bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh and final inning, but Joe Giansante (Mississauga, Ontario/John Cabot (Alliance University)) got the final out
