PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's lacrosse team could not overcome a strong first half from Bridgeport in an 11-17 loss to the Purple Knights on Tuesday evening.
Bridgeport opened the scoring and never trailed, despite the Tigers tying it up at 1-1 and then 2-2 on
Noah Simpson (Oshawa, Ontario/Henry Street) goals in the first 7:24.
Simpson then cut the deficit to 4-5 2:03 into the second quarter, after UB had responded with three unanswered, but the Purple Knights closed the first half with the final four scores for a 4-9 edge at the break.
After Bridgeport tallied the first two goals of the third period, HFU would outscore the Purple Knights 7-6 over the last 21:53.
Individual Highlights
- Simpson and Jake Feeney (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) led Holy Family with four points on three goals and an assist
- Jackson Brown (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) topped the Tigers with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, both of which were season-bests
- Logan O'Keefe (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) and Xander Kelly (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) also had three caused turnovers, with Kelly adding three points on two goals and an assist
- Bradley Smith (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) led HFU with five faceoffs wins and was second with four ground balls
- James Demakopoulos (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) fell one save shy of a season-best with 20
