BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The HFU softball team traveled to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon, falling by scores of 2-9 and 0-3.
Individual Highlights
- Game two starter Kinsley Hall (Frankford, Del./Indian River) produced a quality start, surrendering two earned on five hits in six innings
- Paige Tidaback (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) threw 1.2 innings of perfect relief in the opener
- Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)), Lauren Hagy (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) all had a hit in both games
How it Happened
Game One
- Bridgeport took control with a three-run first
- HFU cut the deficit to two twice, at 1-3 and 2-4, including having the tying run reach second following a Hobel double, Alexis Letizia (Toms River, N.J./Donovan Catholic) walk and Emma Clayborne (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) single in the fifth, but UB shut down the threat and answered with a five-run bottom-half
Game Two
- Bridgeport led throughout again after a first inning run
- Hall retired nine of 11 at one point, but a leadoff error in the fourth led to the Purple Knights making it 0-2
- HFU had the tying reach base in the sixth following back-to-back one-out singles by Jones and Hobel, but the Tigers could never advance a runner to third
