BENSALEM, Pa. – Trailing 6-14 entering the seventh inning of game one, the HFU softball team brought the go-ahead run to the plate against Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday at Bensalem High School.
The Lightning were able to hold on for the 13-14 victory though, before winning the nightcap 4-14 in five innings.
Individual Highlights
- Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) had two hits in both games, finishing the doubleheader 4-for-8 with four RBI
- Emma Clayborne (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) drove in a career-high six in the opener as she went 3-for-6 with two home runs
- Carlie Miller (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) also had three base knocks, going 3-for-4 with two runs and a double
- Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) had two hits, including a double, two RBI and a run, while Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) drove in two on a homer
- In game two, Alexis Letizia (Toms River, N.J./Donovan Catholic) joined Hobel in finishing with two hits and two RBI as she homered and doubled
How it Happened
Game One
- Holy Family sent 11 to the plate in the seven-run seventh
- The inning began with an out, before four consecutive singles from Madison Grubb (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway), Letizia, Sam Ciasullo (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Hoban
- Clayborne then hit her grand slam to cut the deficit to three
- An error kept the momentum, and a Miller single brought the tying run to the plate
- The second out was recorded, but Hobel came through with a two-RBI single to bring the game-winning run to the plate
Game Two
- The Tigers were ahead 3-0 through two, but GBC took control with a seven-run third

With tomorrow's doubleheader against Shippensburg cancelled, HFU will next travel to league-leader Bridgeport for a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
