No. 25 Women’s Basketball Advances to Third Straight CACC Semifinal

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 25 HFU women's basketball defeated Post, 71-45, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Quarterfinal inside of the Campus Center on Tuesday evening.

The Tigers advance to the semifinals, where they will take on Dominican, the No. 1 overall seed, at Jefferson on Saturday at 12 p.m. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all players with 15 points and 12 rebounds for her 13th double-double of the season 
    • She now ranks seventh in the program's single-season history with 194 defensive rebounds and ninth with 279 total reobunds
  • Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) added a season-best 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting
  • Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) made it three Tigers in double-figures with 10 points
  • Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) added nine points, seven boards, a game-high four assists and a team-high three steals
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) also had four assists, while Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) contributed nine points

  • The Tigers outrebounded the Eagles 55-34 and outscored their bench 29-9
 
How it Happened
  • Holy Family trailed for just 17 seconds, in the first quarter, as a Dougherty jumper to make the score 6-5 with 6:17 on the clock put the Tigers on top for good
  • That was the first of three straight baskets by the junior, sparking an 11-2 run that ended with a Carter layup with 1:41 left in the first 
  • Ahead 18-11 following 10 minutes of play and 26-19 midway through the second, HFU took control with the final 11 points of the half
  • Hinkle recorded nine of those points, including a tip-in at the buzzer that established a 37-19 cushion entering the locker room, as the Tigers held Post scoreless for the final 5:37
