PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's lacrosse team outscored Tiffin 6-0 in the third quarter to overcome a halftime deficit and go on to defeat the Dragons 15-11 at Tiger Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Trailing 5-6 following a Tiffin goal at the second quarter buzzer,
Julian Definis (Glendora, N.J./Triton Regional) evened the score 3:44 out of the break.
Jake Feeney (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) then put HFU for good with 9:28 left in the third, before the Tigers scored four times in a span of 2:39 to take control.
Feeney set up three of those goals, assisting
Noah Simpson (Oshawa, Ontario/Henry Street),
James Bienia (East Moriches, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) and then Definis to push the lead to 11-6 with 3:02 showing on the third period clock.
Individual Highlights
- Feeney led all players with a season-best seven points on four assists and three goals
- Bienia scored four times, tying a career-high, and also had an assist, while Simpson had two goals and two assists
- James Demakopoulos (Carle Place, N.Y./Carle Place) set a new season-best with 21 saves to earn a third consecutive win
- Bradley Smith (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) and Jayden Williams (Mays Landing, N.J./Atlantic County Institute of Technology) tied for a team-high with a season-best seven ground balls apiece, with Williams also leading HFU with a season-best 10 faceoffs
- Smith tied Bienia, Brent McColligan (Bellmawr, N.J./Triton Regional) and John Henson (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) with a team-high two caused turnovers
