The HFU track & field program received three weekly awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) after opening its outdoor season at the Stockton Invite on Saturday.
Sydonia Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) won her third career CACC weekly Field Athlete of the Week award, while freshmen
Katelyn Perazzola (Warner Robins, Ga./Mount de Sales Academy) and
Alexson Songor (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) were both named CACC Track Rookie of the Week.
Sydonia Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) – CACC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Turner won two golds, topping respective fields of 12 and 16 as she broke a near six-year-old school record, 1.62m, in the high jump and landed at 5.13m in the long jump. Both marks top the league.
Katelyn Perazzola (Warner Robins, Ga./Mount de Sales Academy) – CACC Women's Track Rookie of the Week
Perazzola won the 200m with the fastest time in the CACC this season, beating out 33 after crossing 26.16. She was also a member of the 4x100m relay team that won gold with the fastest time, 49.11, in the league this season.
Alexson Songor (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) – CACC Men's Track Rookie of the Week
Songor topped a field of 36 in the 400m, finishing in 50.44 for the third fastest time in the CACC season. He was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that won gold ahead of 11 other foursomes with the fastest time, 3:22.23, in the league this season.
