NORTH WALES, Pa. – The HFU baseball team split its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opening doubleheader at Chestnut Hill on Friday, winning game two 2-1 thanks to two first inning runs and
Jorden Sesar's (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville (Manhattan University)) complete game.
Marc Garcia (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area Senior (Keystone College)) singled with one out and
Brian Comer (Charlotte, N.C./Independence (Bucks County CC)) walked, before
Jon Martinez's (Camden, N.J./Timber Creek Regional (Camden CC)) single quickly opened the scoring. The game-winning run would then come in on an error.
Sesar took over from there, picking up his first win as a Tiger after allowing just the one earned run on three hits. He struck out the side in the seventh to bring his total to 10 punchouts.
Individual Highlights
- Garcia reached base multiple times in both games, finishing the doubleheader 3-for-7 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, double, three runs and an RBI
- Comer also reached twice in both games, going 2-for-6 with two base on balls and two runs
How it Happened
Game One
- Holy Family had the tying reach in the ninth, as Comer led off with a walk and Garcia, Christian Mote (Branchburg, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School (Iona University)) and Andy Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) all came through with singles with two away, but CHC was able to get the final out
- Holy Family stranded 14 for the game, including eight in the second through fourth innings after loading in both the second and third, and the Griffins took control with a three-run fourth
- HFU began to chip away in the eighth, loading the bases yet again after a Garcia double, Stefan Leo (Golden, Colo./Golden Senior (Porterville CC)) walk and Rivera hit-by-pitch, but the Tigers could only manage one run on a Garrison Pregulman (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral (Los Angelas Pierce College)) RBI
