Tying Shot at Buzzer Off Mark in No. 20 Women’s Basketball’s Loss at Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. – The No. 20 Holy Family University women's basketball team had a chance to send the game to overtime, but a potential tying shot at the buzzer was off the mark in a 68-71 loss at Goldey-Beacom on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 53-59 with six and a half minutes remaining, an Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) 3-pointer sparked seven unanswered and a 10-1 run that ended with a Kaelah Carter's (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) triple putting the Tigers on top 63-60 with 3:56 to go.

The Lightning came back with the next eight points though, to go ahead 63-68 with just 46 seconds left.

A Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) layup and Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) 3-pointer cut the deficit to a single possession at the respective 37-second and nine-second marks, but GBC would make 3-of-4 free throws in the final 15 seconds before the potential tying shot missed.
