Late First Half Run Lifts Men’s Basketball Past CACC South Leader Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. – A 19-2 run over the final 7:29 of the first half sparked the HFU men's basketball team to a 77-71 triumph at Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division leader Goldey-Beacom on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead 25-24 at the start, Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep), Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and CJ Mundell (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) combined for all 19 points as the Tigers held the Lightning scoreless for 5:39 during the stretch.

A 3-pointer by Jett started the surge and a Mundell triple in the final minute ended it to give Holy Family a 44-26 cushion entering the locker room.

The lead then stretched to as large as 21, 49-28, on a Vernon Johnson (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) 3-pointer 48 seconds out of the locker room.

GBC got as close as four twice in the last 1:18, including at 75-71 with 54 seconds left, but the Lightning could never make it a single-possession game as they did not score again.
