Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team opened its 2025 season at Frostburg State on Wednesday, falling to the Bobcats 2-21. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Payton Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) led all players with three caused turnovers and added a team-high four draw controls and a goal
  • Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) also had four draw controls, to go along with a team-high four ground balls and a goal
  • Lexi Ryan (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) had four draw controls too, while fellow freshman Gwen Varley (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) led all players with five shots on goal
  • Nicole Wiser (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made seven saves in her collegiate debut 
  • Also making their collegiate debuts on the day were Abby Perkins (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy), Gianna Griffis (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem), Elle Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Kaylee Schmanek (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy)
