STATEN ISLAND – The HFU men's track & field won its third consecutive East Coast Conference (ECC) Championship on Sunday at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, totaling 147 points to runner-up Roberts Wesleyan's 133.
- Javon Bowen (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) won two golds, landing at a championship record 7.33m in the long jump and crossing in 6.89 in the 60m
- Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) claimed two golds as well, landing at a championship record of 15.16m in the triple jump and clearing 2.03m in the high jump
- Odane Smith (Saint Catherine, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) was top four in all three jumping events, including reaching NCAA provisionals in both the long jump (7.21m) and triple jump (14.53m)
- Holy Family earned 66 points in the jumping events, including a team-high 24 in the long jump as Desi Stroud (Mays Landing, N.J./ACIT) (6.96m) and Pierre (6.81m) were fourth and fifth
- Bowen (indoor collegiate PR 14.02m) and Ernest Robertson (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity) (13.91m) were fourth and fifth in the triple jump to give the Tigers 22 points in the event
- Isaiah Davenport (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville) (1.98m) and Skyler Salay (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) (1.88m) were third and sixth in the high jump for a total of 20 points
- Mike McGerry (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge), Tyler Wesley (Hartford, Conn./Bloomfield), Jonathan Hackshaw (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman (Monroe College)) and Thelonius Lucien (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Success Academy High School of the Liberal Arts) combined to win the distance medley relay in a school record 10:47.67, while Kimani Smith (Smithville, Jamaica/Edwin Allen), La'Marc Rex (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest), Romar Scott (Westmoreland, Jamaica/Petersfield (Essex CC)) and Alexson Songor (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) claimed silver in the 4x400m relay after combining to finish in 3:22.63
- Lucien won silver in the 1000m with a time of 2:40.07, while La'Marc Rex (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) claimed bronze in the 800m with a collegiate PR of 1:58.83
- HFU placed second through fourth – Raqeeb Somoye (Levittown, Pa./Harry S. Truman) (collegiate PR 8.40), JoJo Smith (Kingston, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) (8.67) and Mohammad Gaga (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan) (collegiate PR 8.71) - in the 60m hurdles for a total of 18 points
- Somoye earned two more points in the 400m after finishing fourth in 50.52
- The Tigers had three in the top five of the 500m too, tallying 14 points, led by Songor (1:06.79) winning silver and Hackshaw (1:07.99) and Scott (1:08.30 crossing fourth and fifth
- Earning two points with a fifth place finish in the 1000m was Letlotlo Mohubedu (Pretoria, South Africa/Northern Academy Secondary School (Essex CC)) (2:42.46), while Theophilius Sample (Atlantic City, N.J./ACIT) (7.11) won one point in the 60m
