Men’s Basketball Closes Out 2025 with 91-72 Victory Over Cheyney

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Men's Basketball Team never trailed as it closed out 2025 with a 91-72 victory over Cheyney inside of the Campus Center on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Elijah Hernandez (Bronx, N.Y./Our Savior Lutheran (Westchester CC)) led all players with season-highs of 22 points, on 8-of-13 shooting and 6-of-11 3-pointers, and seven assists
  • Matt Gardler (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) was not far behind with a season-best 20 points, on 7-of-12 shooting and 5-of-10 trifectas, and six assists
  • Di'Andre Howell-South (Paterson, N.J./Immaculate Conception (Wagner College)) added 13 points on 5-of-6 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws
  • AJ Cortes (Miami, Fla./Miami) led all players with three steals, while Najee Coursey (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek (Sacred Heart University)) and Raphael Dupouy (Bordeaux, France/Central Pointe Christian Academy (Yavapai College)) tied for a team-high seven rebounds
  • Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep (American International College)) made it four Tigers in double-figures with 10 points and a game-best two blocks
  • Kobe Jerome (New Rochelle, N.Y./Blue Ridge School (University of Delaware)) poured in nine points, making 3-of-5 3-pointers, in his HFU debut

How it Happened
  • There was just one tie, at 6-6, and HFU would respond with 12 of the next 13 points, as Hernandez both began and ended the stretch with trifectas to establish a double-digit cushion for good, 19-7, less than six minutes into the action
  • Gardler later started and ended 10 unanswered for a 34-14 advantage midway through the period, and the first half lead reached as large as 43-19 on his triple 7:13 ahead of the break
