WALTHAM, Mass. – The HFU Women's Basketball Team overcame an early double-digit deficit to tie the score in the second quarter, before No. 18 Bentley took control in the second half of an eventual 48-66 win over the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
Individual Highlights
- Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) led all players with 15 points
- Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added 12 points, while Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) had 10 and a team-high three assists
- Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) topped the Tigers with seven rebounds
How it Happened
- 12 consecutive points had Bentley ahead by as many as 14, 3-17, entering the final minutes of the first quarter, before Carter closed the period with a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 7-17
- Holy Family made a move in the second, outscoring the Falcons 20-13 as a 20-8 stretch evened the score at 27 on another Carter triple 1:18 ahead of the break
- Bentley would close the half with a 3-pointer though, before opening the third period with seven of the first nine points
- A Meredith triple midway through the quarter got HFU within five, 34-39, but the Falcons tallied the next five points to establish a multiple possession lead for good
