Women’s Basketball Receives Two of Three CACC Weekly Awards as Carter and Brown Honored by League for First Time

The HFU Women's Basketball Team received two of the three weekly awards handed out by the Central Atlantic Colligate Conference (CACC) offices following its 2-0 week, it was announced on Monday. 

Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) was named the CACC Player of the Week for the first time in her career, while Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) received her first career CACC Rookie of the Week honor.

Carter averaged 17.5 points, shooting 56.3 percent from 3-point range (9-of-16) and 54.2 percent from the field (13-of-24). She added 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per contest.
 
The senior began the week with a team-high 23 points, highlighted by making 7-of-11 triples, in Tuesday's win at Chestnut Hill. 
 
Carter then hit the eventual game-winning 3-pointer with 52 seconds left in Sunday's 54-51 triumph over UPR-Bayamon, in which she finished with 12 points. 
 
Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) – CACC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
 
Brown averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, highlighted by pouring in a season-high 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting at Chestnut Hill.
 
She then had four rebounds, two assists and a steal in the victory over the Cowboys.
