PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University Men's Basketball neared the century mark in a 98-90 victory over Molloy inside of the Campus Center on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 73-75 entering the final seven minutes, a
Najee Coursey (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek (Sacred Heart University)) jumper sparked an 11-3 surge that ended with a
Matt Gardler (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) pull up that put the Tigers ahead 84-78 with 4:15 to play.
The Lions scored on each of their next two possession, but HFU countered with 3-pointers by
Di'Andre Howell-South (Paterson, N.J./Immaculate Conception (Wagner College)) and Gardler, before the Tigers sealed the victory with eight free throws in the final 1:19.
Individual Highlights
- Howell-South led all players with 24 points and added team-highs of 12 rebounds and five assists for his first double-double at HFU
- Raphael Dupouy (Bordeaux, France/Central Pointe Christian Academy (Yavapai College)) also registered his first double-double as a Tiger with season-bests of 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting and 10 boards
- Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep (American International College)) had had five assists as well, to go along with a season-best 15 points on 4-of-8 3-pointers
- Coursey fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points, while Gardler made it five in double-figures with 11 points and game-high three steals

How it Happened
- Back-to-back 3-pointers by Jett just 13 seconds highlighted 10 unanswered that took just 28 seconds as a Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood (Central Connecticut State University)) layup 5:04 into the action put HFU ahead 19-9
- Molloy got as close as one, 23-22, but seven straight put the Tigers back up by eight, 30-22, on a Howell-South layup with 6:34 left in the first half
- The Lions closed strong though, pouring in 19 of the final 30 points of the period to tie the score at 41 entering the locker room
- The opening half of the second was played within three points, until an Elijah Hernandez (Bronx, N.Y./Our Savior Lutheran (Westchester CC)) 3-pointer completed a quick 8-0 flurry for a 73-67 edge with 9:30 remaining
- Molloy came right back with eight in a row of its own though to take its final lead with 7:27 to go
