No. 24 Women’s Basketball Opens CACC Play with 79-65 Win at Dominican

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The No. 24 HFU Women's Basketball Team opened Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a 79-65 win at Dominican on Tuesday evening. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) posted her first collegiate double-double with a team-best 18 points (7-of-12 field goals) and game and career-highs of 11 rebounds and three blocks
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) had a double-double as well, her fourth in five games, finishing with 17 points, 11 boards and a team-best three steals
  • Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) also had 17 points, highlighted by making four 3-pointers
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) led all players with seven assists, tying a career-high

  • Holy Family's controlled the scoring in the pain, 36-24, while its benched outscored DU's 24-14
 
How it Happened
  • HFU poured in the final seven points of the first quarter, in just 59 seconds, to go ahead 22-17 and take the lead for good
  • Dominican got as close as one, 22-21, with the first four points of the second, but a Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) re-established a multiple-possession advantage for good
  • Back-to-back Dougherty baskets and a Hinkle jumper pushed the cushion to double-digits, 40-29, for the first time less than three minutes into the third period
  • The lead remained three possession from that point forward, including never falling below double-digits in the fourth
