AMHERST, N.Y. – In a rematch of an NCAA Tournament Second Round matchup from last season, it was Daemen, a team receiving votes in the national poll, defeating No. 24 HFU Women's Basketball, 61-66, on Sunday afternoon.

Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) free throws tied the score at 51 with 7:39 to go, but the Wildcats would take control with the next eight points, and Tigers were not able to make it a single-possession game again.

- Meredith led Holy Family with a season-best 17 points
- Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) added 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for her fifth double-double in six games
- Claire Dougherty (Lehman, Pa./Lake-Lehman) was also in double-figures with 10 points, while Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) added eight
- Lauren Palangio (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) led all players with three steals, tying a career-best

How it Happened
- Holy Family jumped out to a 7-2 lead three and a half minutes into the action, but Daemen would use 12 unanswered to establish a 12-18 advantage following 10 minutes of play
- The Tigers cut the deficit to two three times in the second quarter, including at 28-30 on a Meredith layup with 3:23 left in the half, only to have the Wildcats make three 3-pointers in the final 2:32 for a 33-39 halftime edge
- Holy Family used six straight points to the score at 45 on a Palangio free throw with 1:45 remaining in the third quarter, and after back-to-back Daemen baskets, Hinkle beat the buzzer for another two-point deficit entering the fourth
