No. 21 Women’s Basketball Dominates Second Half to Open 2025 with 68-45 Win Over Post

PHILADELPHIA – Trailing by one at the half, 25-26, the HFU women's basketball team outscored Post 43-19 in the second to defeat the Eagles 68-45 inside of the Campus Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Post opened the third quarter with five of the first eight points, but the Tigers would hold then hold the Eagles scoreless for nearly six minutes as it used 15 unanswered to pull away.
 
Holy Family took the lead for good, 32-31, on Taylor Hinkle's (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) turnaround with 5:19 remaining in the third, before Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) put a stamp on the surge with the final four points for a 43-31 advantage entering the final two minutes of the period. 
 
The Tigers outscored Post 22-10 in the third, before going on to hold a 21-9 edge in the fourth.  
 
Individual Highlights
  • Lauren Palangio (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) scored 13 of her game-high 15 points, triple her previous season-best, in the fourth quarter
    • She made 7-of-9 field goals and led all players with four assists in just 16 minutes
  • Ngo had four assists as well, to go along with a season-best 12 points and a team-high two steals
  • Hinkle had double the amount of rebounds as any other players with 14 and added 13 points for her fifth consecutive double-double
  • Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) made it four Tigers in double-figures with 14 points and seven boards, while Lola Ibarrondo (Bristol, Pa./Neshaminy) chipped in with eight points
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) also had four assists and two steals, while Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) added two steals

  • Holy Family's bench outscored Post's 37-16 and the Tigers held a major rebounding advantage, 45-27, leading to a 23-5 edge in second chance points
 
How it Happened
  • Post jumped out to two six-point leads at 2-8 and 4-10 and eventually held a 13-15 advantage following 10 minutes of play
  • Holy Family went ahead for the first time with the first two baskets of a second quarter that was played within two points and had eight lead changes and two ties
  • The Eagles closed out the scoring with a jumper in the final minute for a 25-26 halftime edge
