PHILADELPHIA – The No. 18 Holy Family University women's basketball team held off Felician, 70-65, on Saturday afternoon inside of the Campus Center to extend it win streak to eight games.
Tied at 51-51 late in the third quarter,
Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) made four free throws in the final 1:01 of the period to put the Tigers on top for good.
The Golden Falcons got as close as one when they opened the fourth with a 3-pointer, but Hinkle countered with back-to-back baskets.
Felician again made it a one-possession game with a triple, but a
Lola Ibarrondo (Bristol, Pa./Neshaminy) floater and
Kaelah Carter (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker (The College of Saint Rose)) 3-pointer, with 5:24 on the clock, made it a multiple-possession lead for good.
Twice the Golden Falcons pulled within five, but
Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) would make 5-of-6 foul shots over the final 2:07 to seal the victory.
Individual Highlights
- That capped a performance in which Ngo led all players with a season-best 18 points on 5-of-6 field goals and 8-of-9 free throws
- Hinkle added 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for her ninth double-double of the season
- Carter was also in double-figures with 14 points, while Ibarrondo contributed nine points and team-highs of four assists and a game-high three steals

How it Happened
- With Holy Family up 21-15 entering the final minute of the first quarter, Felician went on a 6-21 run that ended with the Golden Falcons ahead 27-36 on a jumper with 4:29 left in the first half
- The Tigers countered with an 11-3 flurry over the final 3:25 though, sparked by Ngo's five points as her layup in the final seconds cut the deficit to 38-39 going into the locker room
- That run continued into the third period as HFU scored 10 of the first 13 points, ending with an Ibarrondo three-point play and Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) 3-pointer capping a 21-6 stretch for a 48-42 advantage just 3:02 out of the break
- Felician came back with the next six points, but Hinkle made the four free throws in the final 1:01 for the 51-55 cushion entering the fourth quarter
