PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's basketball team jumped out to a 30-6 lead but could not make it hold in a 66-67 loss to Felician on Saturday afternoon inside of the Campus Center.
The Tigers nearly overcame a 59-65 deficit in the final 2:25 as a
Ryan Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School) layup,
Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) 3-pointer and
Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) jumper re-established a one-point edge with 19 seconds remaining, but the Goldens Falcons came right back down the court for a basket just seven seconds later.
Holy Family then had a potential game-winning shot blocked in the final seconds.
Individual Highlights
- Jett led all players with a season-high 19 points on 8-of-13 field goals and 3-of-5 3-pointers
- Holmes added 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and a game and career-highs five steals
- Wallace made it three Tigers in double-figures as he finished with 10 points and team-highs of six rebounds, four assists and a game-high four blocks

How it Happened
- Holy Family tallied the first nine points, five of which came from Jett, and it held Felician scoreless for the opening 3:18, to four points in the first 8:20 and just six points the opening 11:47
- Jett fueled the fast start with 10 points, with Holmes adding seven, including the first five in the 10 unanswered that established a game-high 30-6 cushion on Vernon Johnson's (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) 3-pointer with 8:31 left in the first half
- The Tigers also led 34-10 and 36-12, as well as 42-19 entering the final two minutes of the opening period, before the Golden Falcons scored the final six points of the half to cut the deficit to 25-42
- Holy Family began the second half with nine of the first 14 points though, as it was still ahead with 51-30 with less than 15 and half minutes remaining
- After a Holmes free throw made it 59-50 with 8:06 to go, five Felician 3-pointers in less than four minutes gave the Golden Falcons its largest lead with 3:40 on the clock
