STATEN ISLAND – Javon Bowen (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) and Nishorn Pierre (Grenada/Jamaica College) won golds with NCAA provisionals as the HFU men's track & field team opened its New Year at St. Thomas Aquinas' Spartan Invite hosted at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday. 
 
Bowen moved into second in Division II in the long jump, breaking his own school record with a mark of 7.69m to beat out 48 others. 
 
Pierre won two golds, topping respective fields of 27 in the high jump (NCAA provisional 2.08m) and the 21 in the long jump (14.10m). The senior is now tied for 10th in Division II in the high jump
 
Holy Family won additional medals in both events, with Ernest Robertson (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity) placing second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.10m, and Isaiah Davenport (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville) placing third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.98m
 
The Tigers nearly swept the long jump podium, with Stroud coming in fourth with a distance of 13.72m.
 
Also placing fourth, out of 17 quartets, was the 4x400m relay team of J'kwann Hamilton (Smithville, Jamaica/Edwin Allen (New Mexico Highlands University)), Brandon St. Martin (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville), Peyton Engle (/) and Thelonius Lucien (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Success Academy High School of the Liberal Arts).
