The HFU women have won the 2023-24 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Sportsmanship Award, while also finishing in the top three of the Restaino Cup standings for the third year in a row.
Â
Each Team Sportsmanship Award is voted on by the league's head coaches in their respective sport. Head coaches speak with their student-athletes prior to voting to gain feedback on which opposing teams demonstrated outstanding class and character throughout the season.
Â
The standings are then determined by tallying the total number of sportsmanship votes an institution received over the course of the year and dividing that total by the number of sports the institution competes in.
Â
Holy Family averaged 12.50 points to finish ahead of second place Chestnut Hill by .28.Â
Â
The Tigers had six of their eight teams finish in the top three of their respective sport in voting, highlighted by women's track & field capturing the Team Sportsmanship Award with 19 votes.Â
Â
Volleyball (18 votes), and cross country (14) were both second, while softball (15), bowling (11) and soccer (11) were all third.Â
Â
The Holy Family women also placed third in the Restaino Cup, which considers each athletic program's finish in both the 2023-24 CACC regular season and conference tournaments. Each institution receives a combined point total, and the sum is then divided by the number of sports the institution competes in.Â
Â
The Tigers averaged 8.2500 points to trail only champion Jefferson (9.8438) and second place Wilmington (9.4444).
Â
Track and field won a program-high 11 points for a second place finish at the CACC Championship, while cross country contributed 10 for tying a program record third.Â
Â
Soccer and basketball both added 9.75. Soccer reached the CACC Tournament Championship Match for the second time in four seasons, while basketball placed second in the regular season before advancing to the CACC Tournament Semifinals.Â
Â
Women's lacrosse and softball notably also reached the postseason. Â
