BENSALEM, Pa. – After dropping game one 2-5,
Kinsley Hall's (Frankford, Del./Indian River (Mount Olive)) complete game led HFU softball to a 4-2 game two triumph over Caldwell as the two teams split a doubleheader on Tuesday at Bensalem High School.
Individual Highlights
- Hall did not allow an earned run in her seven innings as he gave up just four hits, while striking out 12 for the second game in a row
- The freshman is now eighth in the program's single-season history with 96 strikeouts
- Alexis Letizia (Toms River, N.J./Donovan Catholic) reached base multiple times in both games, finishing the doubleheader 3-for-6 with a walk, three RBI and a run
- Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) reached twice in the nightcap, going 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored
How it Happened
Second Game
- Holy Family broke a 0-0 deadlock with a two-run third that began with a Molly Moore (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) walk and Hobel single
- Jaden Kelly (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) moved those two up with a sacrifice bunt, and Letizia drove them in with a single
- Caldwell took advantage of an error to plate its first run in the fourth, but Hall stranded runners on second and third and HFU answered with yet another two-run frame in the bottom-half
- Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) led off with a walk and Carlie Miller (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) reached on a sacrifice bunt
- Following the first out, Jones and Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) executed a double steal that turned out to be the game-winning run
- The Tigers fourth run came in on an error
- That was more than enough for Hall, who retired nine of the final 11 she faced
First Game
- Four straight Cougars reached with two outs in a two-run first, as Caldwell led throughout
- Holy Family had runners reach in each of its first two at-bats, before halving the deficit on a Hobel one-out walk and Letizia two-out single in the third
- Caldwell had an immediate response though, as a leadoff single led to a run in the fourth, and the Tigers could not get within one again as the Cougars added another when three straight reached with two outs in the fifth
- Trailing 1-5 in the sixth, HFU loaded the bases with zero outs on back-to-back singles by Letizia and Paige Tidaback (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) and a Lindsey Gorka (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) hit-by-pitch, but the Tigers could only push one across on Jones' one-out single
Up Next
With tomorrow's doubleheader against Millersville postponed, HFU next takes the field on Saturday when it travels to Bloomfield for a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
