BENSALEM, Pa. – The Holy Family University softball team swept a second straight conference opponent on Sunday, defeating Chestnut Hill 7-2 and 9-1 at Bensalem High School.
Individual Highlights
- Alexis Letizia (Toms River, N.J./Donovan Catholic) had three hits in both games, finishing the doubleheader 6-for-8 with a double, seven RBI and a run
- Kinsley Hall (Frankford, Del./Indian River (Mount Olive)) struck out 12 as she allowed just one earned on six hits in game one
- Makenna Patterson (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) threw a second straight complete game, surrendering just one earned run on three hits with a season-high nine strikeouts against zero walks in the nightcap
- Jaden Kelly (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) also reached three times in the opener as she went 2-for-3 with a walk, run and RBI
How it Happened
First Game
- First inning doubles by Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Letizia got Holy Family on the board and the Tigers led throughout
- Letizia doubled the advantage with an RBI single in the third, driving in Kelly after she had singled and stolen a base
- After CHC cut the deficit in half in the fourth, HFU pulled away with five runs across the fourth and fifth highlighted by a Letizia two-RBI single and a Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) two-run homer
Second Game
- Scoreless through fourth, Holy Family answered the Griffin's fifth inning run with a nine-run bottom-half
- 13 Tigers went to the plate beginning with Molly Moore's (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) single
- Following a Hobel single and Kelly walk, Letizia came through with what turned out to be the game-winning two-RBI single
- Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) and Jones added RBI singles, the latter of which drove in two, while Carlie Miller (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and Gina Olivieri (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia Charter School) drew base on balls
- Hobel came through with a second single in the frame, this one driving in a run, before Letizia walked it off with yet another RBI single
