PHILADELPHIA – The HFU baseball team closed out its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road schedule at league leader Jefferson on Saturday.
The Tigers led 3-2 entering the bottom of the fifth of the nightcap, only for the Rams to comeback for a 3-11 final.
Jefferson, a team receiving votes in the national poll, had taken game one 2-14.
Individual Highlights
- Emidio Bucci (Gambrills, Md./Loyola Blakefield (York College)) homered in game two, while Alex Camilo (Cambridge, Ontario/Monsignor Doyle (Alliance University)) went 1-for-2 with a base on balls
- Stefan Leo (Golden, Colo./Golden Senior (Porterville CC)) finished 1-for-2 with a RBI triple, walk and run in the opener
How it Happened
Second Game
- Holy Family erased a 0-2 deficit with a run in the third, fourth and fifth, as starter Christian Culver (Croydon, Pa./Harry S. Truman (Bucks County CC)) held the Rams without an earned run in each
- The Tigers did not record a hit in the third as Jon Martinez (Camden, N.J./Timber Creek Regional (Camden CC)) and Gino Serechia (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton (Shepherd University)) were hit by a pitch, sandwiching a Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC)) walk, with Martinez coming home on a wild pitch
- After Bucci's home run with two outs in the fourth tied it, another Martinez hit-by-pitch led to HFU taking the lead following a Camilo single and Lombardo sacrifice
- The Tigers would rue leaving runners in scoring position though as Jefferson went back ahead when a leadoff error led to two runs in the bottom-half
- The Rams would then break the game open with a seven-run sixth
First Game
- Holy Family cut a 0-3 deficit to one when Lombardo led off the second with a walk and Leo followed with his triple, in which he also came home on an error
- Jefferson had an immediate response in the form of a three-run home run in the bottom half though
