Men’s Lacrosse Battles at Felician as Tigers Lead After First Quarter

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Holy Family men's lacrosse responded to a 0-2 deficit with a 4-1 run to end the first quarter, but Felician came back with a 3-7 second in an 11-20 win over the Tigers on Saturday night. 
 
Maxx Covely (Somerdale, N.J./Highland) tallied two of the first three goals in the stretch, in which Adam Camille (Providence, R.I./La Salle Academy) also played a part of two scores, before Jhay Dameus (Willingboro, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) found the net with just four seconds on the clock for a 4-3 advantage. 
 
Julian Definis (Glendora, N.J./Triton Regional), who set up Dameus, then opened the second period scoring to make it 5-3, only for the Golden Falcons to answer with three in a row. 
 
The two teams traded goals, with Covely completing a hat trick and Definis knotting the score at 7-7with 6:26 left in the first half, only for the Felician to close strong with the final three goals of the quarter. 
 
Holy Family got within two twice in the third, at 9-11 and then 10-12, but the Tigers could not make it a one-score game. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Definis and Dameus joined Covely in recording a hat trick, the first of the season for the latter
    • Definis led all players with a season-high three assists to lead HFU with a season-best six points
    • Covley tied a season-high with five points 
  • Camille topped the Tigers with a season-best two caused turnovers, in addition to his two goals
  • Ben Blair (Rochester, N.Y./Penfield) won a season-high 19-of-32 faceoffs as he had four more ground balls than any other players with 11
  • Brent McColligan (Bellmawr, N.J./Triton Regional) was second on HFU with a season-best four ground balls
