Women’s Basketball Advances to Second Straight CACC Semifinal with 67-48 Wire-to-Wire Win at Felician

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The HFU women's basketball team advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Semifinals for the second year in a row, as the Tigers wont 67-48 at Felician in a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday evening.

Holy Family will take on top-seeded and nationally-ranked Jefferson in a semifinal hosted by Caldwell on Saturday at 5 p.m. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South), named All-CACC First Team earlier in the day, paced the Tigers with 21 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season
    • The sophomore now ranks sixth in the program's single-season history (since 1995-96) with 96 offensive rebounds, eighth with 276 total rebounds and tied for 10th with 180 defensive rebounds
  • Carly Bolivar (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka (Alliance)) led all players with six assists and three steals, to go along with eight points and six boards
  • Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) poured in a season-best 17 points, which included making all seven of her free throw attempts, and added eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and a game-high two blocks
  • Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was also in double-figures with 12 points

  • Holy Family held an opponent under 50 points for the 13th time this season as the Golden Falcons shot just 33.9 percent from the field, including 11.8 percent from beyond the arc
  • The Tigers won the turnover battle, 10-17, leading to a 24-9 advantage in points off turnovers
 
How it Happened
  • Holy Family never trailed, breaking a 2-2 tie with 11 unanswered that ended with nine straight Hinkle points
  • The Tigers held Felician to just two points over the opening 7:05 en route to a 16-7 cushion following 10 minutes of play
  • Holy Family tallied the first five points of the second quarter to establish a 21-7 edge on a Prevost layup with 7:51 showing
  • The Golden Falcons fought back to 17-21 when a three-point play capped 10 in a row with 5:42 left in the period, but they could never make it a single possession score-line
  • Hinkle and Prevost combined for the first nine points in a 13-0 surge that ended with Meredith 3-pointer making the score 34-17 entering the final of the half
  • Felician closed with a triple of its own, but the Golden Falcons could never manage to get closer than 14 in the second half
