The HFU women's track & field team swept the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly awards for performances at Bridgewater College's Doc Jopson Invitational over the weekend, while
Odane Smith (Saint Catherine, Jamaica/Edwin Allen) was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Women's Field Athlete of the Week – Sydonia Turner (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast)
Turner posted the top marks in the CACC in both the high jump and long jump, topping a field of 19 in the latter as she landed at an outdoor collegiate PR of 5.18m.
The sophomore's clearance of 1.54m in the high jump was also a CACC standard and good for fifth place out of 16 competitors.
Women's Track Athlete of the Week – Brianna Coates (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower)
Coates posted the fastest 400m and 400m hurdle times in the CACC this season, beating 11 competitors in the latter to win gold with a time of 1:07.11.
The junior's time of 1:02.02 in the 400m was a CACC standard too, and good for four the fourth fastest in the field of 19.
Women's Field Rookie of the Week – Aejana Robinson (/Academy at Palumbo)
Robinson posted the top marks in the CACC in both the shot put and discus, topping a field of 32 in the latter as she broke a near six-year-old school record with a distance of 41.34m.
The freshman also claimed bronze in the shot put, marking at another CACC standard of 12.14m.
Women's Track Rookie of the Week – Ocelia Jones (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica/Maggotty)
Jones ran the fastest 100m hurdle time in the CACC this season, 15.56, to place fifth in the final. The freshman had qualified seventh out of 26 with a time of 15.72 in the preliminaries.
Men's Field Athlete of the Week – Odane Smith (Saint Catherine, Jamaica/Edwin Allen)
Smith posted the top marks in the CACC to win both the long and triple jump. He beat out 22 others in the long jump after breaking the school record, 7.16m, while topping a field of 16 in the triple jump with a distance of 14.51m.
He also won silver in the high jump, finishing behind only teammate
Skyler Salay (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) with a clearance of 1.93m.
