Women’s Lacrosse Uses Fast Start for Win at St. Thomas Aquinas

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team never trailed in a 12-8 win at St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday afternoon. 
 
The Tigers tallied the first three goals, before scoring the final four of the second quarter for a 10-5 halftime advantage.

HFU returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play to host Post this Saturday at 10:30 a.m., in a game that was moved up from 12 p.m. due to impending inclement weather. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower Catholic) led all players with career-highs of five goals and six points and added a career-best five ground balls and team-high five draw controls 
  • Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) led all players with a career-best four caused turnovers, while netting a hat track and adding a team and career-high seven ground balls
  • Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) also had three points with two goals and an assist, while Taina Harkins (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) matched a game-high with a season-best two assists
  • Payton Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) finished second on the Tigers with five draw controls and two caused turnovers
  • Olivia Kueny (West Deptford, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) stopped 12 of 20 shots for her first career win

  • The Spartans again pulled within one with the first goal of the second, only for Wolstenholme to score twice in the 4-0 stretch to end the second
